Noordwijk (Netherlands), 4th Oct 2025
EAG Simulation Dept. and the European Space Agency (ESA) organized the Space Propulsion System Simulation Users Workshop with EcosimPro-ESPSS at ESTEC, ESA’s technology center in the Netherlands, on October 1 and 2 (2025). ESPSS stands for European Space Propulsion System Simulation and is an ESA effort to create common libraries for the European industry for the modeling of these types of systems.
More than 80 propulsion engineers from across Europe attended the two-day event. The inauguration was led by the Head of ESA’s Propulsion Division, Jamila Mansouri. The event organization was handled by Johan Steelant, ESPSS Technical Officer at ESA.
EAG participants included Pedro Cobas, Technical Manager of the Simulation Group, Maria Aranda, Head of the Aerospace Simulation Group, and propulsion engineers David Gutierrez, Carlos Escobar, and Jose Manuel Barea Lopez. All of them presented the new simulation capabilities of EcosimPro and ESPSS on the first day. Various companies such as ESA, ArianeGroup, OHB, DLR, Pangea, AVIO, etc., also presented industrial cases of space propulsion. The second day was dedicated to two courses, one basic and one advanced, on propulsion simulation.
These workshops have served to connect the propulsion user community and propose future improvements to make ESPSS one of the most advanced tools in the world in this discipline.”
